likelyLOVE studio is born out of my love for greeting cards + stationery, anything special that's heartwarming.  After decades of hand making cards to all my family and friends, one video on these letterpress guys + I knew I wanted to work with them.

hiSTORY

The art of the letterpress - learn about it from the guys of Aardvark who make our cards. Watch this short film about the paper source.

: written word :

To send correspondence from the heart, to show that we care -- that's the primary reason I like to write. Sometimes it's hard to express feelings, actually utter them aloud for someone to hear. But on paper, we tend to share deep thoughts and emotions much more freely. It's a nice surprise from emails + text messages and I love seeing someone's handwriting + personal style. Sharing love with words unspoken.

: handmade :

I love the complete sensory experience of making things by hand. And cute and colorful writing paraphernalia will always draw me closely, but nothing matches the finish of letterpress cards (which is still operated by hand).

To become better acquainted with the daunting process of letterpress, I took a printmaking class at Craft Folk Art Museum of LA where I practiced setting type + operating ancient machinery. Then I went to the experts at Aardvark -- Cary & Brooks -- master printers with scores of professional experience. I then scoured trays of metal blocks and arranged the first notecard which I call "coastcard" for Coaster + Postcard. It's sized as a postcard (4x6") and the premium paper is thick enough to function as a coaster.  The classic design works as framed memorabilia, bookmarks, gift tags, banners, anything creative. They look pretty + girls dig their romantic style.
